typography has become one of my greatest passions within the last year. however when i think back to my youth i find that i have always been fascinated with type. from creating several day-care holiday banners to elaborately decorating envelopes and letters veterano style, type has been with me for a long time. and this is why i consider myself very fortunate to actually study it’s origins, use and power.

currently, i am studying the power of moving type. specifically the mood and emotion that it conveys and its ability to tell a story within itself, as demonstrated masterfully by graphic designer saul bass. responsible for the design of animated motion picture title sequences for films like psycho and north by northwest, his impact on both typography and film is indelible and echoed by many artists and filmmakers a like.

below are a few examples of the power and beauty of moving type which not only showcase the ingenuity of great design but also act as a testament to the mark that saul bass left on the creative world.
